A City Made for Setting Out: K’s Story at Maison Effat\u00e0<\/h1><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Maison Effat\u00e0 is located in what used to be the rectory of Notre Dame Cathedral, in the center of Calais, a city in northern France where large numbers of travelers hoping to reach the United Kingdom gather. The House provides shelter to vulnerable men, offering them protection, healthcare, hospitality, and recreational activities. The underlying idea is to be not just a shelter, but a place of sharing and community. Since it opened in January 2024, the shelter has hosted over 150 migrants and has also provided occasional shelter to the families of shipwreck victims.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>
