The World at Home 2016-2026: ten years of encounters, cultures and a welcoming Home

There are milestones that are measured not just in years, but in the stories they have been able to weave and the walls they have helped tear down. This year, the The World at Home reaches a special goal: its tenth edition.
From 2016 to the present, the cloister of the Carmine Church in Milan has become a safe haven, an open square, a communal house that has hosted as many as 39 nations. Promoted by theASCS in collaboration with the Church of Mount Carmel, the project transforms the message of our campaign into concrete gestures: “A Home that Welcomes Changes the World.”. A House is made not only of bricks, but of looks, of smells coming from the kitchen, and of dreams shared. Sitting at the same table among citizens of different origins transforms diversity into an extraordinary richness and cancels the fear of the other ..
This will be a special edition: the return of the peoples
To celebrate these ten years on the road, we decided to change our look .. If in past years each edition was dedicated to discovering new realities, for 2026 we have chosen to look back to embrace everyone and everyone: this year we will not host new communities, but we will call back to us the people and friends from the countries of previous editions. It will be a great celebration of “comebacks.” The four continents (Africa, America, Asia and Europe) will take turns each night to curate the welcoming ritual, culture, dinner, music and parades, showing us that when the House is open, there is room for everyone.
The Journey: 4 elements for 4 spaces in the House
We imagined each evening as a different “room” in our Common House, matching each one with an element of nature and an aspect of living together.
The Calendar: from the Foundations to the Roof of Dreams
Through five appointments, we will inhabit every corner of our Common House together. The evenings take place inside the cloister of the Church of Carmel from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
How to participate: let’s open the doors of our House
The World at Home evenings are gatherings open to all and sundry. To allow us to welcome you in the best way and carefully prepare every detail, reservations are required.
To participate and support the project, we ask for your contribution through a donation: €20 per evening for adults; €12 for boys and girls up to 12 years old.
This contribution includes access to the art exhibition, participation in the show and tasting of the ethnic dinner lovingly prepared by the communities. Each donation is a concrete gesture to support the mission of ASCS and to shout together that a Welcoming Home changes the world.
We look forward to you blowing out these first ten candles and continuing to dream together of a Milan that is, truly, Home for all and everyone.
Because meeting is not just an event, it is an act of trust in the future.
