Il Mondo in Casa 2017
Scalabrinians in Milan: The Scalabrinian Missionaries have been present in Milan since 1989 and work in the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine alongside the Italian, English-speaking and Filipino communities.
Milan and migrants: Although Milan is home to more than 110 migrant cultural associations, it is not an “inclusive city,” and communities often risk becoming isolated by not integrating with either different ethnic groups or the local community.
The World at Home: The project “The World at Home,” aims to create a channel of communication between the various realities in the area. In May and June 2017, at the Parish of St. Mary of Mount Carmel, four migrant communities will make their reality known through cultural, folkloric and gastronomic events.
Project Goal: To stimulate and grow dialogue and sharing between migrant communities and the local community with the belief that knowledge cancels out fear of the other, especially when they are different from us in language, culture or religion.
