My name is Alessandro Baldo, I have been working for 25 years in the third sector and international cooperation. I have been involved in thematic projects and programs on migration and development on an international scale since 2006, working as a project manager at several NGOs and as a trainer at specialized Master’s programs.

Since 2017, I have been working with ASCS as a project manager in the Europe-Africa region, both at the Rome and Milan offices.

My first opportunity to become acquainted with ASCS was meeting Father Fabio Baggio when he was still in the Philippines, before returning to Italy and assuming the role of Dean of the SIMI Institute first, and Undersecretary of the Dicastery for Integral Human Development at the Holy See, established by Pope Francis.

The desire, but at the same time the drive, when I started working with ASCS was to work in a dynamic and innovative context, because it was strongly “in the shoes and on the way” with migrants, with authenticity and without rhetoric. With strongly motivated and “idealistic” people who put the good of people on the move before any calculus of opportunity. Desire that in recent years has continually become drive: because the spirit, the motivation, the fraternal welcome, that I find every day in the people who animate ASCS surprises me and goes beyond my initial expectations.

For its 20th anniversary, I wish ASCS to know how to guard and preserve this precious, charismatic, fraternal spirit, even in its organizational growth, made up of growing and complex projects, resources (human and economic) and professionalism. Always remembering to stay on the path, at the side of migrant brothers and sisters: in short, carrying out projects “with shoes,” always on the way.
