A suitcase full of notes, stories and faces to tell. Scalamusic is preparing to cross the Atlantic for a special tour of Canada, taking the musical show “For Distant Lands” overseas. It is not just a series of concerts, but a real journey combining memory, music and current events.

Twenty years of music and hospitality

For those who are not yet familiar with it, Scalamusic is the artistic project of ASCS. For a good 20 years, this reality has been gathering and promoting the musical talents of young people and adults who revolve around the Scalabrinian world. Through creative workshops, events and audio-video productions, Scalamusic transforms art into a tool for raising awareness, focusing on the issue of human mobility and service to migrants.

The concert,“For Distant Lands.”

The heart of this Canadian tour is the concert dedicated to St. John Baptist Scalabrini. Through songs and storytelling, the performance addresses the profound theme of migration yesterday and today. A way to reflect, get emotional and rediscover the roots of those who had to leave their homeland, yesterday and today.

The stages of the journey

The overseas tour will kick off in Montreal, Quebec, on Sunday afternoon, June 28. The appointment is set for 5 p.m. in the beautiful setting of the Mirella & Lino Saputo Theater, located inside the Leonardo da Vinci Center (8370 Bd Lacordaire, Saint-Léonard). It will be the first long-awaited meeting with the Canadian audience to kick off this adventure.

Scalamusic’s journey will then continue to Ontario, stopping in Woodbridge on the evening of Thursday, July 2. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be hosted in the Veneto Centre spaces at 7465 Kipling Avenue, offering the community another valuable opportunity for sharing, music and reflection.
