The World at Home celebrates its 10th edition: 10 years of encounters, cultures and a House that welcomes

Milan, 04/21/2026 – ASCS (Scalabrinian Agency for Development Cooperation) announces the tenth edition of “The World at Home,” the cultural event that for a decade has made the cloister of the Church of the Carmine a safe haven, an open square, a common Home for 39 nations.

“The World at Home” turns the message of the “A Home that Welcomes Changes the World” campaign into concrete gestures. The goal of the project is to create and grow dialogue and space for encounter and sharing between migrant communities and the local community, with the belief that knowledge cancels out the fear of the other, especially when they are different from us in language, culture or religion.

Every year in May and June, four migrant communities make their reality known through cultural, folkloric and gastronomic events.

A special edition: the return of the peoples

To celebrate this tenth anniversary, we will not be hosting new communities, but will be drawing people and friends from the countries of previous editions back to us. The four continents (Africa, America, Asia and Europe) will take turns to curate the welcoming ritual, culture, dinner, music and parades. With each evening we have associated a “room” of our House and an element of nature.

Calendar of evenings

The evenings will be held inside the cloister of the Church of Carmel from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.

  • Friday, May 15 – Opening Night
  • Friday, May 22 – EARTH: The Foundations and the Roots
  • Friday, June 5 – FIRE: The Kitchen and the Hearth
  • Friday, June 12 – WATER: The Courtyard of Life and Play
  • Friday, June 19 – AIR: The Rooftop of Dreams

How to participate

Participation in all evenings is open to the public upon registration on the form below.

To participate and support the project, a contribution is requested through a donation: €20 per evening for adults; €12 for boys and girls up to 12 years old.
