TABLE OF THE MOST HOLY REDEEMER

In the Tufello neighborhood of Rome, an urban context characterized by widespread situations of socio-economic fragility, many people – Italian and migrants – find themselves in conditions of marginality and with limited access to basic services. To meet these needs, the Holy Redeemer Canteen has been active since 1990, promoted thanks to the daily commitment of the Parish of the Holy Redeemer, where the Scalabrini Missionaries operate, in collaboration with ASCS, the St. Vincent De Paul Society, with the support of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and since 2024 in co-project with the Municipality of Rome. The soup kitchen, operating six days a week, provides a full meal in a welcoming and structured environment, thanks to the involvement of about 60 volunteers.

Alongside the soup kitchen service, there is a Listening Center that welcomes more than 500 people a year, providing personalized guidance and accompaniment to social services. To support the path to autonomy, the Social Secretariat Desk – active since 2022 – offers counseling in the legal, labor and housing fields, including through free Italian language courses, workshops on economic citizenship and support for active job search. There is also a psychological support service aimed at people in a state of psycho-social vulnerability, with particular attention to the fragilities related to the migration path.

The project integrates interventions to combat food waste, through the recovery of surplus from partner supermarkets, and promotes nutrition education through quarterly meetings. The intervention model aims to generate a lasting positive impact by fostering social inclusion, well-being and dignity for all people housed.
