Integrated Welcoming
Like every year, at the Rome headquarters of ASCS, we celebrated with friends/friends, volunteers/people from the courses and the house, the arrival of Christmas. With the classic raffle, many games for boys and girls, and dances from all over the world, we wanted to take a moment to meet and exchange wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

On December 21, the ASCS Rome team went to serve at the Holy Redeemer canteen in Valmelaina..In this Scalabrinian parish, about 150 hot meals are served daily thanks to the invaluable help of the many volunteers/ies who give their time to serve others. For the past year, ASCS has had a presence in the parish, every Thursday with a counter offering employment, legal and housing guidance services to people in the area.

A plenary meeting of the Integrated Housing Network. Roman third sector entities and area associations, come together to address issues related to employment and housing. The work of building a network capable of providing concrete answers continues. to the needs of the people we meet every day.
Intercultural Engagement

Meanwhile, December was a month full of meetings. In Chieri and Treviglio we met with 10 high school classes, reasoning with the male and female students about freedom of movement also through the game The Game recounted the experiences of More Bridges Less Walls. In Bergamo, we played The Game with a group of boy scouts participating in an event organized by Agesci.
Do you remember the summer camps Through? From the network of people met on these occasions, ASCS volunteers from Cuneo, representatives of Caritas of Cuneo and Saluzzo are meeting with the aim of building together a proposal for training and service for young people on migration issues. Stay tuned!
January kicks off with Border24. Youths are organizing service and training weekends for girls and boys under 30 at the borders.

The experience of the “ScalaMusic Academy” workshop at SS. Redentore Parish, Val Melaina (Rome) and attended by about 25/30 people, including children, youth and adults. The Dec. 16 workshop was a special event: after the usual class hours, in fact, the workshop participants took part in the Christmas concert organized by the parish by staging a small performance, conceived and rehearsed during the studio hours and which, although it involved the entire group, had special protagonists in it the children who have been participating in this artistic path for less time. The appointment is renewed to Saturday, January 13 to get off to a great start!

Development Cooperation
In Turin, the third weekend volunteer training course was held, there they worked on the theme of human mobility and its challenges through the contribution of Duccio Facchini of Altreconomia. Work was then done on preconceptions and judgments, how to deal with personal fears and difficulties. The last Scalabrinian missions for which it will be possible to leave were also presented.
Meanwhile, in Calais, one of the ASCS workers is continuing to interface with the associations working with the Scalabrinians present in the missions to begin planning a new reception for the many migrants in transit in the area. Similarly, there is also a move in Ceuta for on-the-ground knowledge and planning.
